Understanding & Supporting Adolescent development & Trauma in Adolescence Training: focused on adolescent development and how life experience influences the adolescent’s self-view and interaction with their world. A range of skills were presented to extend participant’s repertoire of interventions to support struggling teenagers. Adolescent meaning-making was explored through the lens of neuroscience as the implications of trauma on the young person’s emerging sense of self were demonstrated. It was an engaging and interactive session for professionals who work directly with adolescents and are keen to enhance their knowledge and explore additional interventions to help support them.

 

Gaming & Gambling Training

On-line accredited training focused on gambling and associated risks of gaming is aimed at professionals engaging with young people aged 11-19 years old to enhance awareness, increase early detection, reduce hidden harm, and ensure young people are effectively signposted into age-appropriate services.

 

Parent Support Programmes

This series of three individual sessions focused on supporting parents and carers to help them understand better child & adolescent anxiety and how best to support children & young people during these challenging times. The workshops will also provide awareness of the impact of trauma on our wellbeing and the importance of self-care for parents and carers, offering a trove of practical and healthy coping strategies. Resources will be shared and a sign-posting service offered.

 

Mighty Monsters Programme

An on-line 6-week interactive Mighty Monster Adventure Programme by Relax Kids aimed at children aged 5 – 8 years with ASD or similar issues with involvement of their parent/s or carers. Participants learnt to understand, tame, befriend and manage their BIG Monster emotions:  anger, worry, fear, sadness, panic as well as meeting their positive emotions too!

Each week the children went on an adventure, meeting a new Monster, learning about it and how to regulate it. Workshops involved high energy games and movement, slowing down to a nice calm and relaxed state using fun mindfulness exercises, yoga type stretches, breathing techniques, positive self-talk and visualisations either read by the facilitator or played.

 

Circus Together Programme

A 6-week online programme delivered by In Your Space Circus to match the development of circus skills with good relations narrative and dialogue. Participants learnt skills such as juggling, balance activities and plate spinning whilst at the same time exploring issues of
