    Data Processing and Protection

    OG Project Partners are committed to protecting and respecting participants’ privacy in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679).

    We are committed to upholding our legal requirements under data protection law by only collecting what we need, keeping data up to date, secure and private and protecting participants’ legal rights, which include the following rights for participants, or person with parental responsibility:

    • Right of access – the right to ask us for copies of the personal information we hold about you.
    • Right to rectification – the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate and also to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
    • Right to erasure – the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
    • Right to restriction of processing – the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
    • Right to object to processing – the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
    • Right to data portability – the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to yourself, in certain circumstances.

     The data protection law (GDPR 2018) requires us to have written consent to hold personal information within our records and we need your help so we can monitor and evaluate the project you are participating in.

     What are we collecting?

    • Personal data
    • Sensitive personal data.
    • Evidence of participation in OG project activity

    We only collect personal data and sensitive data directly from participants or person with parental responsibility. We do not collect this from any other source.

    Why are we collecting this data?

    • To measure and evidence the reach and impact of the PEACEPLUS OG Programme and to show that we are meeting our targets.
    • To monitor programme implementation and inform policy and project decisions.
    • To ensure and evidence compliance with our legal obligations.
    • To make sure equality and good relations are at the heart of the project.
    • To allow us to better design, adapt, monitor, and evaluate our project.
    • To help tackle inequalities, sectarianism, racism, and social exclusion.
    • To incorporate supports that address the barriers to participation.

     

    How is data stored?

    Any personal data collected by Project Partners, in hard or soft copy, is stored securely by that Partner in locked cabinets or secure online systems, as applicable.

    OG uses the Upshot Systems data monitoring, evaluation and learning system for storage and processing of personal data.

    Information required by SEUPB to evidence activity is uploaded to the SEUPB Joint Electronic Management System (JEMS).  Only anonymised or pseudonymised data is shared with SEUPB.

     

    Who is data shared with?

    Data uploaded to JEMS is shared with our Managing Authority SEUPB (Special European Union Programmes Body), and through them, with the European Commission and relevant monitoring and auditing authorities, on a strict need to know basis.

    Data uploaded to Upshot is shared only with Lead Partner and Project Partners, with whom the participant has actively engaged.

    Only anonymised or pseudonymised data is supplied to UU for monitoring and evaluation and research purposes.

    How long is data kept for?

    In accordance with PEACEPLUS Programme requirements, documents relating to the OG project’s implementation must kept until at least 31st December 2033.

    UU may retain anonymised data, for research purposes for 10 years from date of last data capture (anticipated 31st December 2037). No identifying information will be stored by UU.

  • What does OUR Generation do?

    The Project will develop and deliver programmes to increase mental health literacy, enhance emotional resilience, build the leadership skills of children and young people (aged 9-25) and will lead research in mental health and the impact of trauma on our communities.

    33,000 children and young people and 5,000 key youth workers are expected to participate in the project, between now and December 2027.

  • Is OUR Generation Self-Funded?

    Funding for the OUR Generation project has been awarded through the European Union’s PEACEPLUS Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

    PEACEPLUS represents a funding partnership between the European Union, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Government of Ireland and the Northern Ireland Executive.

  • Can my school / organisation take part in OUR Generation

    The project will be delivered in education, youth and community settings across Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Northern Ireland and Ireland.

  • Is OUR Generation Free?

    Yes – Due to funding for the OUR Generation project coming from the European Union’s PEACEPLUS Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Match-funding for the project has been provided by The Northern Ireland Executive, Dept. of Education and the Dept. of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth in the Republic of Ireland.

  • Can I volunteer?

    Although OUR Generation is not seeking volunteers, we are a project made up of 9 different organisations who may have opportunities available. If you want to volunteer, please email us and we can direct you to the correct person in that organisation.
